Hi! I am Heather, owner and the creative mind behind Pixure This! Photo Studio, as well as a pawfully joyful dog mom to Digi, a Little Flashy Brindle Boxer girl and Leo, a crazy little Boxer/Ridgeback boy!
I have been in the photography business for over 25 years, photographing anything from my unique themed pet portraits to Graduating Seniors! In addition, I have many years in the "old time" photo labs under my belt allowing me a complete understanding of exposure and color.
After 15 years in Streetsboro, Ohio, my husband, 2 dogs and I moved back into my childhood home in Broadview Heights, Ohio in October of 2015 where I have the perfect studio to continue my love of creative studio and natural light photography.
From an early age, I learned to respect animals. One of these lessons was very hard. As a toddler, I placed a towel over a family members dog's head while he was eating. The first time he growled at me...the second time, he bit me in the face. I was also gored by a jealous Billy goat in my childhood at a petting zoo. I have had countless cats and dogs over the years and my childhood dream of becoming a vet quickly vanished with the onset of cable's emergency vet shows in the 80's. I realized I wasn't cut out for having to say goodbye to so many beloved animals. In the 90's while working in my first photo lab and portrait studio, I was asked to photograph a Santa event at a local chain pet store by my employer. I was so very dismayed by the lack of planning, I took it upon myself to create a better experience. The next Christmas, my Santa Paws Portraits were born! I adored working with the animals and quickly realized this unique tie and understanding between them and I. Over the years, this understanding has only grown and the love I have for photography combined with the love I have for animals allows me a unique and perfect profession!
When we moved back into my childhood home, I started going through pictures and slides of my dads. I searched high and low, asking family members if they had any pictures of my dad, mom and I together. My parents divorced when I was 9 or 10, so I do not recall too many happy times with the three of us together. Sadly, I have absolutely no pictures of all three of us...not even a snapshot. This is another reason I do what I do. I don't want anyone to be in this same boat. When it comes down to it, your family is all you have. Don't put off what you can do today. Have that glass of wine, buy that car, schedule those portraits you have been putting off. You will never know when it's too late.
When I stared in the business years ago, we had no other choice to show "proofs" in person because digital didn't exist. Today there are so many photographers out there that aren't serving their clients and just placing images on an online gallery. There is no human interaction, no relationship, no service. That's one of the many things I am passionate about, my relationships. My process is different than other photographers and unique to who I am. I am a low volume, high touch photographer. I am in love with being able to take the time and get creative with graduating seniors, kids, families and pets and to create the perfect unique session!!
Apart from my photography, I enjoy spending time with my hubby, family and friends, attending pet related events and of coarse, cuddling with my furbabies! My perfect Saturday night in the summer is hanging out around the fire pit with my hubby, a glass of wine, a bunch of friends and my pups.
I would love to hear from you! Lets put our heads together and create the portrait session you have always wanted! Call me today to get started! I can't wait to hear your ideas and help bring them to life!
